DOVER (March 28, 2013) - The Delaware Association of Conservation Districts (DACD) encourages you to think about your personal responsibility to be a good steward of Delaware's natural resources during its annual Stewardship Week celebration. The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) has proclaimed April 28 to May 5 as Soil and Water Stewardship Week, marking the 58th year of the national event, with 2013 theme "Where Does Your Water Shed?"

DOVER (March 27, 2013) - Do you know a child or young teen who might enjoy learning about fishing and trying their hand as an angler at landing a fish? Through the Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife's Take a Kid Fishing! program, you'll have your choice of five upcoming dates when budding anglers age 6 through 15 and a parent/guardian are invited to come out and cast a line.

Secretary of Education Mark Murphy encourages children to tell him how their public school teachers are giving them the American Dream. Students should share their thoughts in 350 words or fewer and submit by Friday, April 19th.

DOVER (March 27, 2013) - Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol is actively searching for qualified applicants to fill ocean lifeguard positions at five of Delaware's premier swimming beaches in Sussex County. Tryouts for interested applicants will be held at the Freeman Fitness Center at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach at 8 a.m. on April 2 and 27. There is no pre-registration necessary. Interested individuals may simply attend the tryout of their choice.

Delaware awarded $5.1 million to create and sustain 170 units of affordable housing over five years for persons with disabilities through the Section 811 Project Rental Assistance Demonstration Program.

DOVER (March 27, 2013) - On March 23, artistic entries from students in grades K through 12 throughout the state were judged in the 2013 Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Winners are on display at the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center near Milton now through Saturday, March 30.

DOVER (March 27, 2013) - Delaware's spring 2013 upstate trout season will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife announced today. Six designated trout streams in northern New Castle County - White Clay Creek, Christina Creek, Pike Creek, Beaver Run, Wilson Run and Mill Creek - will be stocked and ready with thousands of rainbow and brown trout, including some trophy-sized fish. Trout stocking will continue on a regular weekly basis through Thursday, May 2.

DOVER (March 26, 2013) - The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) will hold a public hearing in Delaware at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, to gather public comment on its draft Interstate Fishery Management Plan for black drum.
