Fenwick talks meetings and sporting event

A joking suggestion that members of the Fenwick Island Town Council lead off their March 12 “workshop without agenda” (WWA) by canceling the WWA actually got some serious attention from the council members.

The suggestion was made mostly in jest, upon discovering that all but one of the council members were present, but only three community members had shown up for the meeting.

Medians move forward in Fenwick

Fenwick Island Town Council tentatively awarded a $135,000 Route 1 median landscaping project to Greenscape Landscape at the March 18 council meeting.
Engineer Chuck Hauser of Davis, Bowen & Friedel (DBF) said he was still checking references for the company, but he didn’t expect any problems there.

Hauser said Greenscape’s bid was within what the town had budgeted for the work.

Fenwick considers event for lighthouse

Fenwick Island Town Council heard a proposal for an “aquathlon” to benefit the Fenwick Island Lighthouse Foundation at the March 18 town council meeting.
Kent Buckson of Surf Racer Sports presented the plan for a half-mile swim/five kilometer run through town, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20.

It’s been a noisy, dusty week at the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce. Construction crews have torn out the old flooring and gutted the bathrooms in preparation for continuing renovations at the Visitors Center (Route 1, Fenwick Island).
Staff members said they’d endured worse (including drafty conditions while crews framed out the east side of the building).

Fenwick aims for green light on plan
