William “Bill” Castoran, 47, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014.
Castoran was an IT professional and consultant to Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Castoran was born in Chester County, Pa. He graduated from Brandywine High School, Wilmington, Del.
Irene Elizabeth Jackson, 84, (known to many as “Mom” Jackson), of Millsboro, Del., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Del., after a very long battle with COPD and congestive heart failure. She was born March 5, 1930, in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of Kasmer and Elizabeth Zakrociemski.
Helen H. Scott, 96, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Cadbury At Lewes, Del. She was born Oct. 4, 1917, in High Point, N.C., daughter of the late Millard F. and Blanche C. Hunter.
Mary Lou Baker Orendorf, 75, of Gumboro, Del., passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014.
Mary Lou was born Aug. 18, 1939, in Salisbury, Md., to the late Victor B. Baker Sr. and Mary A. West Baker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and a nephew, David B. Baker.
Philip Gordon Sharp, 70 of Ashland, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014. He passed away from complications with COPD and pulmonary fibrosis. By his side were his wife of 47 years, Janice Hurst Sharp; daughter, Lara Sharp Finnie, and her husband, Tony; son, John Sharp; and granddaughter, Alyssa.
Florence S. Bixler, 89, of Selbyville, Del., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Lee’s Almost Home in Ocean City, Md. She was born in Selbyville, daughter of the late Hugh Stephens and Florence (Mumford) Stephens.
Virginia C. Cameron, 99 years and 10 months, of Fenwick Island, Del., passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. She was born in Santiago, Chile, in October of 1914 to the late Salvador M. Barrera and the late Virginia Carrasco de Barrera, one of 10 children, all of whom have preceded her in death.
William C. “Bill” Downs, 62, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Christiana Healthcare in Newark, Del. He was born Sept. 21, 1951, son of the late Edgar Downs and Marguerite (Shockley) Downs.
Helen Devereux Egan, 89, a resident of Ocean View, Del., for 27 years, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014. She was born in Baltimore, Md., raised in Chevy Chase, Md., and was a former resident of Potomac, Md.
Betty Jane Forbes, 63, affectionately called “Betty Boop” by her loved ones, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at home in Georgetown, Del.
Janice Mae Hopkins-Tingle, 57, known to the family as “Jennie,” was born to Paul Clifton Hopkins and Laura Snead-Hopkins on Nov. 8, 1956. She departed this life Wednesday Sept. 3, 2014, at her Seaford, Del., home.
Vada M. Hudson, 78, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, Del. Hudson was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Bedford, Pa., to the late Grant and Vivian Smith Spencer.
Raymond A. Johnson, 72, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, at home on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014.
Born Jan. 19, 1942, he was the proud husband of Nancy Y. Johnson and a retired government employee, having served more than 36 years as a GAO administrator. For the last 15 years, Johnson had resided with his wife in Ocean View, Del.
James L. Kauffman, 77, of Millsboro, Del., passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Christiana Care in Newark, Del. He was born in Pontiac, Mich., and raised in Lebanon, Pa. He worked for R.R. Donnelley in Lancaster, Pa., for 30 years before moving to Delaware.
Joseph C. Moore, formerly of Millsboro, Del., and currently of Palm Coast, Fla., passed away at his residence on Monday, July 28, 2014. He was the son of the late Charles Moore and Mary Johnson Moore. Moore was a retired mechanic from the E.I. Dupont Nemours Chemical Company, based in Seaford, Del. He loved horses and liked fishing.

Hertha Kainrath Smyth, 103, of Bethany Beach, Del., passed away at her home on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014. She was born June 28, 1911, in the Austro-Hungarian province of Galicia, where her father, K.K. Rittmeister Anton Kainrath, was garrisoned with the army.
Virgie Mae “Susie” Rivera, 86, of Millsboro, Del., passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Del., on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014. Born in Oak Orchard on Nov. 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Eli Hitchens and Virgie Mae Thompson. She was a faithful member of both Friendship UMC and the Nanticoke Indian Association.

Anna Jane Holmes, 88, of Selbyville, Del., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at home. She was born in Wheeling, W.Va., the daughter of the late Richard T. Milier and Grace C. (Zinn) Molier. She was a retired school bus driver with Prince George’s County Transportation.
Ruth J. Hattier, 89, of Frankford, Del., and formerly of Vienna, Va., passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at home. She was born in Berlin, Germany, and was the daughter of the late Georg E. Schnell and Augusta (Zinselmeyer) Schnell.
Hattier was a homemaker and an avid animal lover.
Arthur Craig Greenwood, 55, of Millsboro, Del., passed away suddenly Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. Born in France to American parents stationed there in the U.S. Army, he was the son of Woodrow Arthur Greenwood and Babette Ritter Greenwood.
