Eve Kovalchick, 77, of Lewes, Del., passed away unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1935, daughter of the late John and Mary (Crighton) Anderson.

Julia Anne Meiers, 71, of Frankford, Del., passed away at her home on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. After a long career at Navy Federal Credit Union, Meiers retired to Delaware in 2005. She enjoyed bowling, trivia, Scrabble and working in her yard and garden, but her real love was cooking and baking

Sondra Ann Moore, 56, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Glen Mills, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

Gregory J. “Greg” Perry Sr., 50, of Selbyville, Del., and formerly of Salisbury, Md., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. He was born in Salisbury, son of the late Bette (Collins) Perry and Calvin Perry.

Phillip E. “Pee Wee” Townsend, 71, of Millville, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home.

Paul Anthony Trionfo, 82, of Frankford, Del., formerly of Ocean City, Md., and Baltimore, Md., passed away at his home on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

Trionfo was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired bricklayer with the Local Bricklayers Union in Baltimore. He enjoyed playing slots, baking and knitting.

Marvin B. Woodrum, 77, of Dagsboro, Del., formerly of Gaithersburg, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del.

James E. Atkinson Sr. of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. He was 91 years old.
Atkinson was born on April 29, 1921, to the late Elmer Atkinson, DDS, and Avis Sholfstahl Atkinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Helen Atkinson, in 2011, and his brothers Robert Atkinson and Donald Atkinson.

Naoma P. Avara, 80, of Selbyville, Del., and formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. She was born in Baltimore, daughter of the late Raymond James and Hilda Marie (Knell) Keefe.

She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City.

Edwin Forrest Booth Jr., 89, of Long Neck, Del., formerly of Wilmington, Del., passed away at the Hospice Center in Milford, Del., on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.

Donald H. Brown Sr., 82, of Dunnellon, Fla., and formerly of Selbyville, Del., and Midlothian, Va., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. He was born in Washington, D.C., son of the late George O. and Elsie E. (Linton) Brown.

Harry L. Daisey Jr., 87, of Frankford, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del.

Lucille Davis, 87, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. She was born March 15, 1925, in Elizabeth, N.J., to the late Lindsey and Clair Thoms.

Donald Rodney Evans, Jr., 90, of Lewes, Del., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. He was the son of the late Donald and Elsie (Aschoff) Evans Sr.

Felix Eli Figueroa, 90, of Seaford, Del., passed away at Lofland Life Care in Seaford on Jan. 17, 2013. Born May 3, 1922, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Jose de Gracia Figueroa and Modesta Miranda de Figueroa.

Walton Avery Johnson Jr., 63, of Millsboro, Del., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. He was born Dec. 30, 1949, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Del., the only child of Walton A. Johnson Sr. and the late Joyce Lorraine Hudson Johnson.

Mitchell Holmes Russell, 78, of Lewes, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. A memorial service was to be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway in Lewes. Interment was private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium of Lewes.

Scott Kevin Smith, 49, of Millsboro, Del., passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 16, 2013. Born April 13, 1963, in Salisbury, Md., he was the son of the late Joshua William Smith and Mary Lou Wooten Smith, who survives him.

William A. “Will” Turner Jr., 81, of Selbyville, Del., formerly of Berlin, Md., and Ocean Pines, Md., passed away Friday Jan. 18, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William and Florence (Purdue) Turner Sr.

James M. Whittles, 84, of Selbyville, Del., and formerly of Wheaton, Md., passed away, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. He was born in East Newark, N.J., and was the son of the late Fred and Catherine (Meehan) Whittles.

Florence E. Wright, 84, of Frankford, Del., passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del., surrounded by her loving family.

Ronald Allen “Rony” Ashby, 46, passed on to rest on Friday evening, Jan. 4, 2013. Born May 25, 1966, Ashby was known as an amazing person who had an indescribable zest for life that immediately filled a room when he would enter it.

Nettie Carter Ballard, 81, of Bridgeville, Del., passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, Del.

Ballard was born in Washington, D.C. She was happily married to Danny D. Ballard. She is survived by one son, three daughters, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Elmer Stanley Bell, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2013, with his family in Poolesville, Md. Bell was a resident of Plantation Park in Frankford, Del., and also at the Atlantic Shores Nursing Home in Millsboro, Del.

Mae A. Burton, 100, of Millsboro, Del., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, after a wonderful life of service to God, her family and the community.

Joan T. Carlile, 78, of Frankford, Del., passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late George F. and Emma (Kraft) Brown.
Carlile had worked for Arby’s in Millsboro, Del., for several years and formerly attended St. George’s United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Del. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and Yahtzee.

Ruth Lowberg Croft, 86, of Lewes Del., passed from this life into the care of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at her home.

Charles David Melson, 58, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Regal Heights Nursing Home in Hockessin, Del.

Donald L. Rose, 78, of Bridgeville, Del., passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Bridgeville, son of the late Jessie James and Florence (Stewart) Rose.
