The Indian River High School boy’s tennis team was well on their way to retuning the Henlopen South Division title after their fourth division win on Tuesday, May 2.

Facing Lake Forest for the second time this season, the Indians won the match 3-2 — the same score from their previous matchup against the Spartans — to open the season on Wednesday, March 22.

Senior Mac Smith earned the win at first singles for the Indians, taking down Lake’s Randy Dookran by scores of 6-2, 6-1.

Senior Patrick Mochiam also got a singles win while playing in the second-singles spot and defeating Lake’s Grant Ford by scores of 6-2, 6-4.

At second doubles, Jhony Ortiz and Juan Linares sealed the win for the Indians by taking down Lake’s Connor Weaver and Wesley Slagle, 6-2, 6-3.

The win put the Indians at 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the division headed into their Wednesday, May 3, matchup at Milford (after Coastal Point press time).

They’ll have one more Henlopen South match after that, when they host Seaford on Friday, May 5, at 4 p.m.
