J. Parker Connor, 79, died at his winter home in Fernandina Beach, Fla., on Saturday, Jan. 21. He was a communications law attorney before becoming a radio broadcaster, Realtor and businessman in Bethany Beach.

He served in the Navy during World War II, was a member and past president of the Maryland/DC/Delaware Broadcasters and was active in the National Association of Broadcasters. He purchased a real estate brokerage in 1969 and renamed it Connor Realty. He also purchased WJDY-AM in Salisbury, Md., and WSUX-FM in Seaford, and put WSBY-FM on the air. The Connors sold Connor Realty and the radio holdings in the 1990s, but the family still owns Connor’s Package Store in Bethany Beach, along with several commercial and residential properties.
He is survived by his wife, Susan C. Connor; five children, Catherine Connor Phillips of Bethany Beach, J.P. Connor Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, Kevin J. Connor of Damascus, Md., S. Bradley Connor of Dagsboro and Mathew A. Connor of Bethany Beach; his sister, Dr. Audrey Connor (Kelser) of Bethesda, Md., and nine grandchildren.
Burial services will be private.
