John A. Engler, 82

John A. Engler, DDS, 82, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del. Following Engler’s graduation from Bucknell University and Temple University School of Dentistry, he taught for two years in Temple University Radiology Department. He began his dental practice in Hamilton Square, N.J., where he was a member of the Masonic Gothic Fraternal Lodge #270 and the Black Rock Gun Club, Plainsboro, N.J. He was a veteran of World War II. After relocating to Delaware in 2002, he joined the Indian River Senior Citizen Golf Group. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Engler was preceded in death by his parents, George and Arlene (Groff) Engler; two sisters, Arline Engler Worth and Ethel Mae Engler; and a brother, William O. Engler. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ellen (Henry) Engler; two daughters, Lynn Engler Bezpalko, D.O., and her husband, Orest Bezpalko, D.O., of Mt. Laurel, N.J., and Diane Engler and her husband, Christian Gay, of Ferndale, Pa.; a son, John A. Enlger Jr. and his wife, Bridgitte, of Hamilton Square, N.J.; four grandchildren, Orysia Bezpalko and Nicole, Christie and Erika Engler; as well as several nieces and nephews.

All services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community Lutheran Church, 30897 Omar Road, Frankford, DE 19945.
