Katherine Louise Blades, 84

Katherine Louise (Wolf) Blades, 84, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Millville, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. She was the past president and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View, Del. She was also a member of the Frankford U.M. Church, Frankford, Del.

Blades was preceded in death by her parents, William Andrew and Katherine (Diese) Wolf. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, George M. Blades; five sons, Norman W. Blades and his wife, Kathy, of Orange, Calif., Timothy M. Blades and his wife, Vikki, of Millsboro, Del., Michael G. Blades and his wife, Nadine, of Dagsboro, Del., Stephen N. Blades and his finance, Connie, of Williamsville, Del., and Dennis J. Blades and his wife, Karen, of Bethany Beach, Del.; two daughters, M. Susan Knox and her husband, Roger, of Millville, Del., and Patricia A. Blades of Dagsboro; her faithful companion and dog, Beau; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Margaret S. Banks of Wilmington, Del.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, Del., where friends and family may call after noon. A memorial service will also be held by the VFW 7234 Ladies Auxiliary prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in her name to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or the Alzheimer Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106; or, since she was a survivor of breast cancer, donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
