Let’s thank our wounded veterans this week

Get out on the next clear night and enjoy one of our amazing sunsets. Or, on the flip side, wake up early and head to the beach to catch a sunrise that is guaranteed to steal your breath.

These things can make us feel extremely fortunate to live here, or spend significant time here visiting.

This weekend is filled with some great events that only add to the allure of this community — from the Boardwalk Arts Festival to the Nanticoke Powwow. Both of these popular events are unique to this community, and are reasons alone to drive several hours to get here.

And that is not even including the Operation SEAs the Day Warrior Week, which is already under way.

This is an effort put together by a group of incredibly-dedicated individuals to provide a great week at the beach to wounded veterans and their families, as well as an opportunity for our entire community to offer thanks and appreciation to brave men and women injured in defense of this nation, as well as the equally-brave and inspiring families who kept things together at home.

The Freeman Stage will host a show for the families on Friday evening, and there will be a Heroes Welcome Home Motorcade from Sea Colony Marketplace to the stage, starting at 4:45 p.m.

Let’s line those streets for our heroes in appreciation of all they have done, and let them know we are grateful. See A1 for more information.
