Chris Clark: Millsboro Automart’s newly rennovated showroom boasts fun automotive memororabilia that can be enjoyed by customers while shopping for a new or used car.Millsboro Automart has been a part of the Preston Automotive Group family of dealerships since 1987. Now, after months of renovations, their new facility is complete, accommodating more than 120 used vehicles on the lot, as well as five service bays that accept all makes and models of vehicles.

“We really have something special in Millsboro,” said Dave Wilson Sr., owner and president of Preston Automotive Group. “Not only do we have a one-of-a-kind dealership in the nation, but it is also a museum.”

Inside the new facility, the focus is on a fun atmosphere, complete with checkerboard flooring and décor featuring old car memorabilia.

“That was done by the owner,” said Van Salter, director of operations for Preston Automotive group. “We really didn’t have a superintendent on the job. Everything on the inside was his vision.”

Although a date for their official grand opening has yet to be set, Millsboro Automart plans to host a celebration at their location to mark the renovations. Until then, the public is still welcome to come experience the new facility.

“It’s a lot of fun to look at,” said Salter. “People really seem to enjoy it.”

Preston Automotive Group services the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania areas with Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Hyundai and Nissan brands. Additionally, the dealership services all makes and models, both imported and domestic cars, with ASE-certified and factory-trained technicians.

The Preston Automotive Group is also home to three auto body shops located around Delmarva, in Preston, Cambridge and the newest facility, in Snow Hill, Md.

The mission statement of the Preston Automotive Group is to provide a “superior workplace for our associates so that as a team we can provide our customers with a superior consumer experience. We will express our love for every customer daily, love for every customer daily, and create an experience that will result in our customers choosing the Preston automotive group for all the services we provide.”

Salter said the Millsboro Automart is dedicated to providing the best experience to those looking to buy a vehicle — new or used.

“We deal with all types of clientele. We handle credit challenges very well and carry vehicles from $3,900 up to $39,000. We have a pretty wide array and, between the group, we probably have 500 or 600 used vehicles to choose from at any time.”

He added that the dealership has a wide variety of new vehicles from which to choose.

“We can pull things from the main dealership and bring them down here,” he said. “We turn our inventory. We’ll get 10 or 15 different vehicles in every week. We’ve got a constant flow of vehicles coming in and out.”

With the new service department, Salter said the Automart now offers even more service to the community.

“We didn’t have a full-service service prior to the renovation, and we do now. Millsboro needed a nice service area, and we’re extremely busy. It’s really gone beyond our expectations.”

Salter said he hopes those who are in the market for a new or used vehicle will swing by the new facility to take a look and enjoy their first-rate service.

“We hope to provide our customers with the very best,” he said.
