Myrtle E. Hitchens, 90
Myrtle E. Hitchens, 90, of Ocean View, Del. passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. She worked for “Jake” Hocker before it was G&E. She co-owned and operated Myrtle’s Upholstery with her daughter-in-law Ellen for 26 years. She attended the Millville United Methodist Church.
Hitchens is proceeded in death by her parents, Archie Frank Savage and Gretchen Wainwright Savage; her husband of 44 years, Norman J. Hitchens; a son, Charlie “Buck” Hitchens; daughter-in-law, June W. Hitchens; four brothers, James F. Savage, A. Frank Savage, Ormil “Doc” Savage, and Edward Savage; three sisters, Viola Clark, Hilda Marvel and Virginia Lockmiller. She is survived by two sons, Ralph J. Hitchens and his wife Ellen, Rick A. Hitchens and his wife Laura and a daughter, Brenda A. Taylor; two brother-in-laws, Harry Timmons and Elwood Marvel; sister-in-law, Mary Savage; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral service is set for Friday, March 19, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, Del. where friends and family may call after 12 noon. Interment will follow at St. George’s Cemetery in Clarksville, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Hitchen's name to the Millville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1179, Millville, DE 19967 or the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
