Robert Kent Dryden, 66, of Millsboro, Del., passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del. He was retired from Crown Cork and Seal Inc. with 37 years of service and was also a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 7212 for those years. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 28 in Oak Orchard, Del., and also a lifetime member of AmVets Post 2 in Long Neck, Del. All of the above held a very special place in his heart every day of his life, especially the part of him that was a Marine.
Dryden loved to do many activities with his wife; he loved to travel to see stock car racing and to hear local bands perform country music. He loved to socialize with all people that he met through all his walks of life. The special thing that he enjoyed most was being with his wife at home, enjoying a wonderful dinner and a good movie together. He was a loving, caring and devoted husband for 29 years, which she will cherish forever.
Dryden was preceded in death by his parents, William Dryden Sr. and Jane Elizabeth Weaver Dryden; his sister, Carole Lee Anderson; and a very special friend, Wanda M. Adkins. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ada Mae Dryden; a brother, William Dryden of Salisbury, Md.; and his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Greenwalt of Whaleyville, Md. Also the many friends that he had met through all his travels in life and the new friends he had met at his home at Creek End; and a very special friend, Madeline Baker (known to him as “Little Munchkin”) of Bishopville, Md.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Friends may also call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment with honors will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
