Vanessa Lee Derrickson, 52

Vanessa Lee Derrickson, 52, of Mount Clare, W.Va., passed away Feb. 16, 2012, at her residence.

Born Dec. 17, 1959, in Fort Campbell, Ky., Derrickson was known as a loving mother who enjoyed taking her children to swimming and sporting events. She also enjoyed tennis and pets, particularly her golden retrievers. Additionally, she was a member of the Church of Christ.

Derrickson is survived by her parents, Tavner Robert Vantrease of Madison, Tenn., and Marilyn Ann Truitt of Seaford, Del.; her husband of 28 years, William Jody Derrickson, whom she married on June 11, 1983; one son, Alex Derrickson and his wife, Sommer, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Tedi Derrickson of New Iberia, La.; one brother, Robert Vantrease of Newark, Del.; one sister; Vicky Heby of Hollywood, Fla.; and half-sister, Jennifer Justice of Laurel, Del. She was preceded in death by her brother Timmy Vantrease.

Graveside services were scheduled for Feb. 21, 2012, at Saint Georges Cemetery in Clarksville, Del., with arrangements by Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del.
