Beebe names Carr manager of oncology sections
Brandi L. Carr, an oncology nurse with more than 12 years of experience working with cancer patients, has been named manager of oncology nursing and research at Beebe Medical Center. Carr is based at Tunnell Cancer Center and oversees a nursing staff of 27 who are assigned to radiation oncology, medical oncology and to oncology research and performance improvement.
New guidelines less restrictive on birth options
Vaginal birth after a Cesarean, or VBAC, is a safe and reasonable option for most women – including for some women who have had two previous cesareans – according to the nation’s leading group of professionals providing health care for women, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, or ACOG. Their updated, “less restrictive” guidelines on VBAC were released last week.

State organ donor policy fulfills Shauna's hope
Shauna’s life was filled with hope and purpose. She was 17, an artist, writer, performer and, for one so young, intensely interested in social justice. Shauna was Ian and Amy Kaufman’s daughter, and Holly’s older sister. She had finished her junior year at Sussex Central High School and was driving from a friend’s house to her summer job. It was June 18, mid-afternoon. The road was slick from rain, and she probably took the curve a little too fast. She crashed into a telephone pole and died instantly.

In the practice of karma yoga or service to others yoga and tai chi instructors from Silver Lotus Training Institute, Comfort Zone Yoga, Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach Yoga have offered to donate their services and teach hour-long workshops designed to meet the unique needs of the community and change lives all through yoga, qigong and tai chi. The young and old, flexible and not-so-flexible, the athletes and couch potatoes, and those of every heritage will be able to find a workshop perfect for them, organizers said.
